My name is Sophie and I am a graduate of French and Spanish at the University of Southampton. As part of my degree I spent my third year abroad and I chose to spend mine doing a work placement in Paris.

I had my heart set on doing a work placement in France and through sending a lot of emails, a few Skype sessions and one amazing trip to Paris, it was decided; I would be working as an International Marketing Assistant for a world-renowned fashion and lifestyle magazine. 

After my year in Paris, I jumped on a flight to Barcelona, not even knowing if I would find a job there, but luckily I got myself an amazing internship and managed to get my Spanish back -- even if the first few weeks meant dropping in the occasional French word and looking like a fool.

This blog is a place for my family and friends to see what adventures I got up to and hopefully give other students an insight into a year abroad in the French capital.
